Anshen Veterinary Acupuncture, LLC began in 2005 by Dr. Jody Bearman with the mission to help animals heal or stay healthy through traditional Chinese veterinary medicine.
An Eastern physical based on a thorough history of the animal leads to a Chinese diagnosis. Four of the five branches of traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine are used to treat all animals:

Dr. Andrea Lanphear, DVM, CVA, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a BS in Zoology in 1989. After graduation she returned to her hometown, Chicago, and worked in pharmaceutical sales. She moved back to Madison to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She joined the Country View Veterinary Service practice in Oregon, Wisconsin in 2004. She received her veterinary acupuncture certification from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and has been studying under Dr. Jody Bearman ever since. She lives in Madison with her husband, two dogs; a redbone coonhound named Althea and a mini rat terrier named Kiko, and two cats, Morrissey and Garcia. She and her family enjoy spending time up north in Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin where they built their own cabin with the help of many family and friends. She is very excited to assist in the healing of animals.
Dr. Jody Bearman, DVM, CVA, CVCH graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in Bacteriology and from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM in 1992. She worked in small town mixed practice (horses, farm animals, small animals) then small animal and exotic practice using Western medicine for 14 years.
Wanting to help animals that couldn't be diagnosed or treated with Western medicine and those that developed severe side effects from Western medicine, she took the Chi Institute for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine mixed animal course and became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2005. She is also a certified Veterinary Chinese Herbalist and practices tui-na (Chinese massage and physical therapy) and is now an instructor at the Chi Institute. She is excited every day to help animals heal and stay healthy. She works with many animals - dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rodents, horses and more.
Dr. Bearman and her family now live in Kapaau, Hawaii with their dogs Moe and Howie, their cat Ned, and their three rats Moon, Sunny and Frostfur. Dr. Bearman continues to work with Anshen as a consultant and advisor.
Nadia Bidwell has worked with Dr. Bearman and Anshen Veterinary Acupuncture since January, 2008. In the past, she’s volunteered for the Dane County Humane Society, interned with a local veterinarian, and worked for a local holistic animal clinic. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and has been with Dog’s Best Friend since 2002.
Nadia shares her life with two terrier mixes, Pooka and Ranger.
